The news from Japan has been both tragic and hopeful. Tragic, in that at least ten thousand are believed to be lost, and at the same time hopeful, as so many were spared and are surviving. Closer to home are the stories of the friends and families who have loved ones there. So far none of them have reported deaths or serious injury, which is encouraging. Local organizations here in Arkansas are rallying to send aid and workers, which is comforting, too.
